TPWD PERMITS
Effective April 1, 2008, you will need to have the $60 Commercial Controlled Exotic Snake Permit if you plan to sell any of the snakes listed below. (Permit No. 581) This permit can be purchased anywhere hunting licenses are sold, i.e. Wal*Mart, etc.
You will need to provide a receipt to the purchaser for all transactions involving the snakes below, as purchasers have 21 days to get their Recreational Controlled Exotic Snake Permit. (Permit No. 580)
The affected snakes for this permit are:
ALL non-indigenous venomous snakes
African rock python (Python sebae)
Asiatic rock python (Python molurus)
green anaconda (Eunectes murinus)
reticulated python (Python reticulatus), and
southern African python, (Python natalensis)
A hybrid of any species listed above
Also, if you are selling any native reptiles, you will need the Non-Game Dealer Permit.
TEXAS STATE COMPTROLLER
If you don't have your Tax I.D. Number, please contact us immediately for information on how to obtain one. You must have this in order to set up and vend at our shows. Please don't ask us to waive this for you. We can't (it's out of our hands) and we won't (they are holding promoters responsible). You must provide us with your Tax I.D. Number before you will be allowed to set-up.
RAFFLE
The South Texas Herp Association is sponsoring a raffle. We are asking that each vendor donate one or two items to the raffle. The STHA works hard on their educational programs and also helps us promote our show. Members of the STHA will be coming around to pick up donations prior to the opening of the show. Please have the item(s) ready. Please do not donate coupons for percentages or dollars off your table. We ask that you donate tangible items only.
DRAWING FOR FREE VENDOR TABLE
We will have a drawing at the end of the show on Sunday for one free vendor table good at any of our shows. You must be present to win.
PURCHASER SOLD STICKERS OR RECEIPT
We will provide you with "sold" stickers for the items you sell. Please put your initials on them. Of course, you can also provide the seller with a receipt. We will have one of our security personnel at the door who will check for the stickers or receipts.
VENOMOUS RULES
For those of you who will be selling venomous reptiles, you must adhere to these rules:*
VENOMOUS RULES:
* All venomous reptiles must be brought into the show in the containers they will be sold in, must be sealed in red tape, and a Warning sticker must be affixed. We will provide the stickers.
* All venomous sales are required to have a Waiver signed by the purchaser (we will provide the Waivers).
* The vendor must keep the reptile in a bag behind his/her table until the purchaser is ready to leave the show, at which time one of the staff members need to be notified so that they can take the reptiles(s) out of the show. Our staff member will wait until the purchaser leaves the parking lot.
* The Waiver(s) must be turned into one of the staff members working the front door.
* All spitting cobras must be in double containers.
* No venomoids or venom altered reptiles may be brought into the show. Any venomoids found in the show will be removed by the promoter and the vendor will be escorted out of the show.
* No venomous sales to anyone under the age of 21, regardless of how much knowledge they claim to have.
* If you, as the vendor, don't think that someone has the appropriate knowledge or experience to own a venomous reptile, then don't make the sale. You could be held accountable.
OTHER INFORMATION
It is important that you have your vendor application filled out and given to us prior to the show. You just need to fill out the front and back pages. If we already have your vendor application on file, you are not required to submit another one.
If you have any questions about the venomous rules, please let us know.
We will no longer allow multiple scorpions and bugs to be displayed in the same container. They must be individually contained.
You must disclose to all purchasers the origins of the reptiles you are selling (i.e. captive bred or imported). We still allow them to be sold at our show and will hold those vendors to the same standards as the captive breeders.
Please have a business card and/or care sheet to give to your customers when they make a purchase.
Any reptiles showing signs of mites or ticks, dehydration or illness will be removed by the promoter.
No animals may be brought into the show once the show begins.
REMEMBER: If we don't know about it, we can't do anything about it! Please let us know if you see anything suspicious or against our rules. If you see anyone selling reptiles or any animals in the parking lot, please notify us immediately.
We're looking forward to hearing from you and seeing you in San Antonio! Let us know if you have any questions.
