I am wondering what venomous snakes are indigenous to Afghanistan. Seeing the video clip of Army Rangers parachuting into the Afghan night makes me wonder what kind of snakes they may encounter, night or day. Thanks

My reference lists the following species in Afghanistan:
Naja naja - Asiatic Cobra
Echis carinatus - Saw-scaled Viper
Eristicophis macmahonii - Asian Sand Viper
Pseudocerastes persicus - Persian Horned Viper
Vipera lebetina - Levantine Viper
and a suspected occurance of
Agkistrodon halys - Pallas' Viper
Now for the bad news...my reference is 36 years old and taxonomy has severely changed over the years. These names should be enough to help you find more information about the snakes in question.

Well they probably wont have to worry about encountering any snakes soon because according to the news they have pretty bad winters there and it is right around the corner.
