Hey everyone, I have access to 2,000 acres in oglethorpe county GA. I will be spending a couple of weeks there this summer. I was just wondering if there are any carolina pygmies in that area. If not how far away from that area are they. And also, does anyone know what other species I could find in that part of GA.
Thanks Billy K.

....and all of the canebrakes are west of Hwy 78. Copperheads can be found throughout the county, and supposedly there is a small population of cottonmouths in the southern part of the county. [If you find one, I want to see it!]

Thanks alot Chris.I dont have a GA map on hand, but the name of the town is called Philomath. It is very small. Do you know if that is anywhere close to their range.
Thanks Billy

Due to it's proximity to me Oglethorpe is the county I herp the most. Definitely don't expect any canes in the eastern half of the county. I've heard of many people catching pigs in Oglethorpe, but I've only found DOR's there. I've found coppers near Philomath on gravel roads, and could be overlooking the tiny grey pigs.
P.S. My main reason for hunting Oglethorpe as opposed to going further south or east--mole kings.

Ya, Philomath is a good area. One of the properties I go to is between Philomath and Maxeys.I've heard several reports of pygmys there but haven't seen any yet.But just a little further south outside of Sparta, in Putnam county I've found quite a few. Marty
