I'm wanting to catch some WDB's I've got all the proper licenses from the state of Tx. just was wondering if anyone could tell me a good place to start looking for them. I've been to Palo Pinto and Jones counties with no luck. Anything would help.

 Thanks
 Ronnie

Outside of Abilene TX, there is a State Park called Buffalo Gap. If you Road Cruse the out lying areas, you can find a few good spots. I know that this area of TX has a High Population of WDB’s. I went to Abilene back about 4 Years ago and caught well over 20 WDB in a 4 Day period. Now, I will give a word of warning “do not and I mean do not get caught taking Snakes from the State Park”. It is against the Law to Remove or Molest any and all Wild Life on a State Park Good luck, I hope you get as lucky as I did........................Be safe ya’ll, happy herping Wally

Thanks for the help guys, but I would really like to stay away from state parks such as Big Bend and Buffalo Gap. If parks and Wildlife just happens to be there (even with the proper permits) I don't feel like going to jail. Jones county which I went to is right outside of Abilene and not much luck there.

Larry, you are correct. I know that you cant Legally Herp in any State Park, but they can not touch you if you are even a foot on the outside. I do the same here, I have caught so many nice Copperhead’s & Cottonmouth’s here by searching just Outside State Parks. Ronald, if you keep outside of Park Boundaries you will not get into trouble. Believe me areas around State Parks are a Herpers Heaven. I wish you lots of luck, hope you hit the Mother Load .........Be safe ya’ll, happy herping Wally

schleicher, sutton, crocket, and irion counties are very abundant w/the c. atrox, along w/many other crotalus species. with the right conditions your are almost sure to see a wdb in these counties. they are not over collected at all(except HWY 277). if ever in the area just look me up, i can show you some good roads to cruise or private property to hunt. Good Luck!
