News Items links issue

This is for the "News" section manager...the links that were recently put up are broken (or are missing the full string).
The one regarding the Lander Wyoming guy bitten on the tongue and lips is located here:

Looks like the web site news posting program will still only accept URL addresses up to 75 characters.
Did anyone ever look into changing the program code to accept say 150 character URL addresses, as I suggested a couple of months ago?
