toddg, I too was only joking in the best sense. The;)at the end of my sentence was a wink. You've helped so much that I would never say anything crude to you intentionally.
And very true, if she wants a "harmless" snake and I see she really is going to be a vet, then I may have to give in. I will do just about anything for my children's education. But I draw the line when it comes to poisonous snakes or constrictors of any kind. She can wait til she has her own home for that. I just don't know if I can get over the smell of their cages/enclosements.

I’m sorry. I’m a bit naive when it comes to computer lingo. I don’t know what the “lol’s” and the ;)’s mean. Thank you for clearing up one of those little mysteries for me. You are absolutely right no to consider a venomous snake at this point, however, ALL snakes are carnivores. And being carnivores, they do have to hunt and subsequently, “kill” their prey items and if that method is not venom or constriction, then it’s invariably, death by swallowing… that is… they have to kill their prey items unless it’s already done for them. Think about it! Food is much more enjoyable when you don’t have to struggle with it! When the time comes, you might inquire at your local pet store about either purchasing pre-killed food source (some pet stores will offer this service free of charge) or simply buying a frozen supply to be stored in your freezer and thawed upon serpent supper time. Contrary to popular belief, there are those of us that actually loath feeding time (because ultimately something has to die) but unfortunately it comes with the territory.
Beat of luck! toddg
