keith spencer <keith_spencer01@yahoo.com>
got an email from this address, it was vague and looked like it was written by a drunk......i posted 4 snakes for sale early this morning, he replied saying he'd not seen any that big (3 juvies, 1 2ft copper) and i thought maybe he'd confused my ad with someone else's......but after explaining to him what i was selling, he said that he wanted the juvy one (there are 3 juvies, wtf?)......the last name spencer bugs me because of what happened with William (Bill) Spencer....maybe the last name is a coincidence, maybe he's trying to set up another "raid" on my place and his ISP only allows him to use his real last name, i dunno.........but i'm wary and i know something is up.......anyone else gotten these emails? wanting a whole lot of info just to send me a "certified check" when i clearly stated that they were pickup or meet and trade? could be a scam, could be bill wanting to be a hero, AGAIN, i dunno.....i know he told me he'd send the fish and game dept to my place, they showed up less than 1 month later and found nothing illegal, i pressed harrassment charges on them for being in my home when i got home from work without just cause, mainly just to aggravate them (my attorney owed me a favor and was working on a wreck case of mine he could make some money on, blah blah).......so just be careful......

yeah i have to agree he is one of the scammers
that we have all come into contact with in this business. i played along long enough to finaly be able to find out he was trying to call me from somewhere out of the states, saying he would
need to figure what the international rates where on the call to contact me
then he did the infamous well i will send you a cashiers check for 560.00plus shipping
for a max 60.00 dollar florida cottonmouth
and here is the real treat said he lived in missouri
but couldnt even supply the type of permit needed to keep the animals
unless they changed the laws and you dont need them anymore
well i am rambling
be safe an just enjoy today

I got one this AM too. It was addressed to Roark??? but somehow I got it. I replied asking what he was looking for. When he asked for all of my personal info and a price list a red flag went up and I deleted his email. I don't know what he is up to, but I'm sure it's not good.

Just for reference, yahoo accounts are free accounts, not through an ISP, and as far as I remember from when I got mine, they check nothing. So the name is meaningless...

Breezer, breifly, they offer to buy something from you and come up with some excuse why they need to pay by check in an amount way over what you asked and ask you to wire part of the difference back to them. The check is fake, but written against a real account, so it initially clears the bank. You wire them the difference and then when the owner of the account finally notices the missing money, you're liable, the scammer has your money, all the info you had about the buyer is fake and you didn't check it because the check cleared and you thought that was all that mattered.
