I also concur with James and Daniel. I too have noticed that all he does is come here and complain, whine, and ramble on about some conspiracy theories going on with him, his friend, and Alabama Fish and Game. The fact of the matter is, he broke the law, plain and simple. Eric won't remember me, but he sold me a S. Copperhead at the last Columbia show in SC. This man has ethics and morals. He even verified what county as to I lived in, just to make sure there was no county or city restrictions on where I was. Too 98% of the dealers out there don't take the time to verify permits and check ID's, etc. Ricky, please, this website does not wish to hear your excuses and constant "passing the buck" off as if you did nothing wrong.

I have also done business with Eric...1.1 Cryptelytrops insularis...and I would sum up the transaction as follows...courteous, professional, animals were as promised. Bottom line...I would do business with Eric anytime with absolutely no reservations !!

I'm totally on Richard's side. I know how the legal and political systems work ... or don't work most of the time. They are corrupt to the core.

Eric consulted me regarding this matter. As usual, Eric conducted himself in a professional manner and took the steps to safegard our hobby by verifying and permits submitted to him inconjunction with a purchase of a venomous reptile. It's not his fault, what so ever he uncovered and unlawful act in the process.

Also, think about it, when Fish and Wildlife officials are afraid of snakes - they chose the wrong profession!

Puma, usually, Fish and Wildlife rarely has to deal with venomous snakes, especially exotics for that matter. They are just regular LEO's with expanded powers that covers fish and wildlife regulatons.

Yes, you are right on those points, but, in my opinion they should have a grasp of knowledge on all creatures, whether they encounter them or not.

If you go to a zoo, not every employee there likes reptiles or is trained to handle them just because they work there. What's the difference?

It is unreleastic to expect a fish and game officer to know all of the nuances of the exotic venomous reptile trade (much less herps in general). It's their duty to uphold the law and enforce the law. Wildlife biologists would be expected to have a working knowledge but even then, you cannot expect them to know everything about this trade. Most professional herpetologsists have a specific area of expertise because they poor much of their time immersing themselves with that particular species. Although no government entity is perfect, and, yes, there are political forces at times who can make things difficult, I have never had any problems with any state fish and game or department of natural resources personnel - in fact, just the opposite and I have always been impressed with the way they conduct their business. If you are courteous, professional and sincere with them, you'll ge treated with respect. If you pop off about the system, well, you get what you deserve.
Someone asked why some of the old timers no longer contribute here....well, just read the threads; who would want to get involved? Although I have many friends who are top knotch private hot herp keepers, I see so much crud that it's hard to be optimistic. Just lots of whining, blatant breaking of the law and everything in between.
