I've always heard that venomous snakes inject venom into their prey to aid in digestion. Especially regarding people who oppose venomoids, and mind you I am highly against venomoids, but I made an observation in my rattlesnake that would go against this theory, if it is a theory at all, I don't want to sound stupid. Anyways, when I feed my C. stephensi adult mice it does the classic bite and release and the mouse is usually dead in seconds. But, when I feed it pinkies or fuzzys it does not inject any venom. I know this because when it grabs on the pinky or fuzzy the mouse usually starts struggling and the snake drops it. This process happens over and over until the snake finally grows tired and it injects venom then the pinky dies and turns black in a matter of seconds. So I was wondering if hots always inject venom, especially if your feeding them f/t mice?

Please read the discussion thread a couple ahead of this one labeled 'de venomized' both sides are given, (with one paper supporting each side). Biologically speaking I would say that yes, venom plays a role in digestion. But then I've been wrong before.
