		    | I work on a base in Iraq as a Vector Control technician and received these pictures from a buddy of mine over in Mosul who caught this one on 02Feb08. I haven't run across this one myself and didn't have any luck identifying in it, does anyone recognize the species?

		    | Malpolon monspessulanus - Montpellier snake, a rear-fanged colubrid related to sand snakes (Psammophis).

		    | Thanks, that looks a lot like it. Another person I asked thought it might be Coluber schmidti, Schmidt's Whip Snake which also resembles it but I couldn't find any good pictures of that one to check. |

		    | Waggett, as stated by Wolfgang, the snake is a Montpellier snake. 
 Schmidt's Whip Snake, (now named Dolichophis schmidti), is quite a bit different looking.
