I have seen on TV. Sometime back, A Black viper of some kind found on the tundra of Skandinavia.
Cant remember the program however. Anyone have an idea
as to what species of snake i am refering to might be?

the northen most viper in the world is Vipera berus
and melanism will make them black and its a bit of a survival thing, timbers do it here in the U.S.

The one you refer to must be tho one and only vipera berus. This is the only venomous snake in skandinava and northern europe. It's quite common outside the cities and towns and specially in the arcepellago (spelling?).
