White lipped tree vipers can be very fatal. This is not a snake to take light. Also they get quite large for an Asian tree viper, and therefore can have quite a venom yeild. There are quite a few localals also and venom can be diffrent. Yellow insularis from the Wetar islands are considered a sub species of whitelipped. A friend of mine milked two diffrent wild caught abolaboris a few years back and told me one had a clear venom and one had a yellow venom. Do not think for a miniute these snakes are a mild venomous snake. They have killed people before. You should check out the Gumprecht book Asian Pit Vipers. Good luck and be safe.
