		    | Hey guys,
I got a Coluber c. flaviventris about 3 weeks ago.

It's eaten 2 rat pinkies and 2 five lined skinks, and seems really healthy.

Today I noticed about 7 or 8 brownish-black things in it's mouth. I got one of them out, and it was alive.

 They look like tiny leaches.

Does anyone know what this could be? Should I worry?

I am going to get all of them out ASAP, since they aren't attatched very well.

 Thanks in advance,
 Jon Short

		    | Jon, I am at home for the weekend. Shoot me an email if you want. Is the snake acting lethargic or otherwise ill?
A few things come to mind, but that is a bit vague. Any possibility you could get a picture of one of these parasites? I would try to isolate this animal from the collection, as you never want to take chances with any parasite spreading anything.

Email me if you get a chance.

 Take Care,
 -John Mendrola.

		    | John, I sent you an e-mail and I'm sending you another one with some pictures soon.
I got some pictures of one, but 4 or 5 of the little things went down right around and in the throat.

		    | If you are feeding live lizards, you run a very real chance that your snake has parasites. A round of panacur normally does the job but I would recommend having a vet check it out and treat accordingly. Once you actually start seeing the larvae/worms, the parasitic cycle is taking a full turn. Keep a close eye on weight loss and make sure the animal is well hydrated in the mean time. |

		    | Since I don't have a full time job I don't have the money to take it to a reptile vet.
I might have enough money to buy medication.

I'll put the picture up on my profile picture so everyone can see the size and everything.

 Thanks again,
 Jon Short

		    | Ivamec has some success but can be dangerous to use If they are tongue worms they are rare and about impossible to cure. |
