			Hi everyone,

I have a gaboon who has been sound very raspy for the past 2 weeks. Before I caught him going into shed and thought that was the problem, but clearly he remains to sound raspy when he breaths/hisses.

Here is what happened. I went away for work for a week and apparently the power was lost. The gaboon is in the basement and it can get as low as 18 at night without heat. I also believe the water drying out and lacking humidity could have played a factor as well. I wish I could have found someone for the job but since he is venomous I didn't want to risk any injuries to people.

I have boosted the temperature and am maintaing the humidity.
 Help would be appreciated.

Lack of humidity even at normal temps can give them a respiratory infection during the winter.

The Gaboon needs to be cultured and started on a antibiotic.

			Al, thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately I won't be taking the venomous snake to any vet for a culture nor am I equipped to do it at home. I guess this is where the whole "if you're going to keep venomous..." responsibility kicks in.

I'm going to get him started on Tylan as soon as it ships in. It's a wide spectrum agent that's reportedly to work quite well against R.I.s…
