I found this in a creek in Kentucky.
Its about 8 inches long.
What is this shell from?

Actually i have never seen a turtle of any sort that looks like that the closest are the sawback turtles. But I dont think thats it. Maybe a prehistoric animal?
Its cool looking though. You might have something special.

---**TRIONYX** ALL NORTH AMERICAN SOFT-SHELLS BELONG TO THIS GENUS. SOME EVEN HAVE GIVEN THE NORTH AMERICAN TRIONYX A SYNONYM CALLED APALONE(AMYDA HAS ALSO BEEN USED). I don't know what species it could be, but here is a list of US soft-shelled turtle species:
Trionyx(=Apalone)spinifera(Spiny soft-shell)
T.(=A) muticus(Smooth soft-shell)
T.(=A) ferox(Florida soft-shell)
To find out more about soft-shelled turtles, visit www.tortoise.org. Under "Chelonian Archives". ALL you ever wanted to know! Make sure that the species are listed under their scientific names! COOOOL FIND!!! Heleri(or should I say "Trionyx" Hee Hee Hee....)
