Hello everyone,
I am about to list and ship my first ever venomous snakes. I am reducing my collection and also may have some babies in a month or so. My question is how do I verify age and states where shipping is legal of venomous. Also is there a best way. I have noticed that when I have purchased them, they have always come Delta Dash.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Vette,
It seems delta dash is the main way for shiping snakes but I have never had one shiped so I cant realy comment.
As for legal varification, Mardi Snipes of Coastalreptiles has a page on his site which list all of the requirements or lack there of for every state. This will give ya a good idea but venomous laws trickle down to the county and city goverments and though one state may say, "yeah you can keep em", the county may have a ban.
I suggest you try and get ahold of Mardi Snipes or another venomous dealer and see if they can help ya alittle bit more.
Good luck to ya.
Take care.
Later,
Jeremy
P.S What species are you selling if you dont mind me asking? Aspidelaps?!?!?!?!?!?!?!:-D

I had all my venomous snakes shipped via Delta Dash or Delta Priority shipping. When I bought my Naja kouthia from Mike Knight, I ran into some difficulty becuase he had not made a venomous shipment in soem months and so Delta no longer considered him a frequent shipper. So he had to ship a certain number of non-venomous herps before he could get clearent to ship venomous.
Also, from what I understand, the airline reps can be quite anal. If I understand correctly, they can request to see exactly what you're shipping, so don't label a venomous snake nonvenomous!! If you let them know that you're shipping a venomous snake, they may well decline wanting to see the thing. They will, however, hold you to strict boxing regulations--double-bagged; plywood of a certain thickness, etc...
Hope this helps some.
Cheers
Roger
