I was wondering if a venomous permit is required for Hydrodynastes and Boiga species in Florida. I have 150 hours of venomous experience(a far cry from the necessary 1000 hours!), and I checked the Florida Game and Fish site, and could not find any references to rear-fanged regulations. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I read your request and on the surface of it, it sounds like a legitimate question. And then I clicked on your name to view your profile to see who I would be "talking" to as I always do (great way to "meet" folks). As you didn't leave a name or email address or ANYTHING(!) I can't really take your request for help seriously. I don't have an actual email address so I do understand some transiency. That is why I make my requests for help privately. The SHHS probably has lots of Florida members and several of them keep rear-fanged reptiles. I am willing to bet that they are classified as venomous and therefore require the standard permit. You might try emailing Mardi Snipes who runs coastalreptiles.com. Other than that, I am just not willing to put a lot of effort into researching the question for someone who won't even leave a name (real or not).
Good Luck...

I contacted the Florida Game and Fish Commission for clarification regarding, Bioga, Hydrodynastes and other rear-fanged snakes. I asked if a VR permit was required. I spoke to a Lieutenant who stated that the Florida License is for Poisonous or Venomous Reptiles. These snakes are considered "Poisonous" and therefore fall under the VR regulations. Why then, do they let me keep Hognose snakes with a Class III (non-venomous) license?
Makes sense to me!
