i am planning a trip to Florida as a vacation/herping trip. i will be staying somewhere in the orlando area from january 7-14th. my question is, what is the everage temp in that area for that time of year? and is it possible to catch herps during that time of year or will it be too cold? im used to nj weather and have no idea what it would be like down there in the month of january. i just want to know if i could catch some herps or not. if anyone has any idea please let me know. thank you!

Bob, you have a chance of finding some herps in January if the weather is mild. It often gets above 60 degrees during the winter days there, which will bring out snakes to bask. If they are out, they will not be too far from shelter, as they have to get to shelter before the evening, when temperatures might cool into the 40 or 50 degree range, or even colder.
Hope this helps
Best Regards JohnZ

last year, i hardly got below 50 but this year is supposed to be coller than last year but if you do get a day that's not too cool, the area outside of the air port if dense woods and alot of rattler hand around ther but you have to be careful, the security is really tight and they don't like it when you get too close
