This for any of you Florida guys. The wife , boys and I are heading to Cape Canaveral in July and at night I would like to ride through Ocala in hopes of seeing some good herps. Anywhere in particular that will provide some good spotting. Thanks. Collin

Ocala National Forest out east on 40 is where I used to go catch Rattlers for Ross Allen back in the day. Being a National Forest I imagine it's still there...and still full of good herps.

			He only asked about "spotting."

And my collecting days in FL were back in 1980 or therabouts. I don't even know what the laws were back then. LOL

The F & WCC officers that I know who work in Ocala told us that it is not legal to collect there.
I do not know why since it is, indeed, normally legal to collect in National Forests (like Appalachicola) but not National Parks (like Okefenokee).
I have seen some awesome animals in Ocala.

Interesting. I'm not a fan of collecting wild herps in any significant number, but it would be a shame to come across a single amazing specimen and not be able to add it to a captive breeding program because somehow, that one National Forest has rules different from all the others). I wonder if there are any others like that?

			Hey Collin,
I'm really surprised to see you here...
 No pictures from Everglades?
Well, I hope you'll have a good luck in Ocala. Your boys must be having a blast this summer.
Shoot me an email, when you'll find the time. ;)
