			Hey guys,

I got a Coluber c. flaviventris about 3 weeks ago.

It's eaten 2 rat pinkies and 2 five lined skinks, and seems really healthy.

Today I noticed about 7 or 8 brownish-black things in it's mouth. I got one of them out, and it was alive.

 They look like tiny leaches.

Does anyone know what this could be? Should I worry?

I am going to get all of them out ASAP, since they aren't attatched very well.

 Thanks in advance,
 Jon Short

Jon, I am at home for the weekend. Shoot me an email if you want. Is the snake acting lethargic or otherwise ill?

A few things come to mind, but that is a bit vague. Any possibility you could get a picture of one of these parasites? I would try to isolate this animal from the collection, as you never want to take chances with any parasite spreading anything.

Email me if you get a chance.

 Take Care,
 -John Mendrola.

John, I sent you an e-mail and I'm sending you another one with some pictures soon.

I got some pictures of one, but 4 or 5 of the little things went down right around and in the throat.

If you are feeding live lizards, you run a very real chance that your snake has parasites. A round of panacur normally does the job but I would recommend having a vet check it out and treat accordingly. Once you actually start seeing the larvae/worms, the parasitic cycle is taking a full turn. Keep a close eye on weight loss and make sure the animal is well hydrated in the mean time.

Since I don't have a full time job I don't have the money to take it to a reptile vet.

I might have enough money to buy medication.

I'll put the picture up on my profile picture so everyone can see the size and everything.

 Thanks again,
 Jon Short

Ivamec has some success but can be dangerous to use If they are tongue worms they are rare and about impossible to cure.
