Hello all,
I have been working on getting a hold of some of the surrounding communities and posting on their web pages that I will relocate their snakes if they think that the snake posses a threat. I was wondering if any of you had any information on how to get some funding or a good way to go about it or anything. The main thing I'm trying to do is relocate these snakes to places where they will be protected from things such as rattlesnake roundups, crazy gun happy farmers, ect... . the main thing that I need help with is funding. I have found a large piece of land that I would like to acquire. Does anybody know about grants for this sort of thing? well I thank you all and if I actually get this to happen maybe I can invite all of you to come take pics and have a good time.
Josh
P.S. I have been getting reply's from some communities and when I get the message's posted I will give you all links to those pages. Thanks and happy herpin

There are no grants. There is no funding. You will have to support yourself mainly. In some affluent areas, you can charge to remove snakes. There was one individual on television charging $80 to remove a rattlesnake. Personally though, I don't charge anything to relocate snakes. And I usually only relocate them a couple of hundred yards from where I remove them - after I explain why to the residents. I'm not sure if you know this, but it's a good general rule not to relocate snakes too far from where you catch them.
Bottom line: Unless you live in an area that has an abundance of rich people and venomous snakes, don't count on making a living off of relocating snakes.

I am not doing this to make a living (though I wish it was possible). I am giving people something to resort to besides the gun or garden equipment.
Thanxs for the input.
