This is what I consider a typical "naturalist" approach to snakebite. It's a bit sterile, however, she is correct about staying calm. Being calm and methodical is definitely going to help. There is a point however, where you will definitely need to step up the care, and this is where most videos will end. No one ever talks about what to do when the victim's eyes roll back in their head and they begin foaming at the mouth. I suppose I should create some videos based on these scenarios.

I was just being stubborn by leaving it here.

Well, this thread sure did not go far.
Guess it is time for a new one on Speak Out.

Chris:
I have to agree with Cro! This is fine for a very basic video however there are other important things left out, and falls back on a couple of previous topics covered in this forum.
Working for Florida Poison Control, and still consulting for MD's in Tampa, I continue to see many of the old treatments still utilized many which cause more harm, and feel a video produced by the society would be an excellent educational tool for the public.
I do believe it should focus on native species vs. exotics which I feel should be a different video directed more at private collectors and zoos.
I am actually jealous because this would be a great project that I would not mind being involved in.

Chris, I think you should do just what you suggested.
Why not make an Excellent Quality Snake Bite First Aid Video ?
On UTube and the site here it would do wonders in educating the public, and showing what dip s--ts folks like muffboy are in their videos.
The stuff like the foaming and eyes rolling back could be staged with the right prep.
I just might have access to some pro video equipement and editing for something like that.
Think about a script for an educational video, and shoot me an EMail. I will fill you in on the filming access thing.
Best Regards JohnZ
