Found mainly in the Balkan region of Europe. Largest recorded specimen was 90cm, but usually around the 65cm in length. The only viper in eastern Europe with the "nose horn." Probably the most venomous snake in Europe. Normally found on dry rocky slopes, lightly wooded areas, and stone walls common to cultivated areas.
