Al and Karl,
I wrote Mitch of Diamond Reptiles about the above matter. Seeings that I have purchased much of my collection from him and lead others his way I felt obligated to write him. The following is the e-mail I just sent:
Mitch,
First of all let me start off by saying I think very highly of you, your business, and the quality of animals you sell. I think you are at the top of your field and expertise. I just was little surprised by the pic you submitted in the Kingsnake classified add of the above mentioned snakes. Though they are of superb quality as your business is known for I question the way the animals were presented. As your add stated that they are not in your facility as of yet I did not assume nor jump to conclusion that, that was your's or one of your employees'hand. I just fear that the pic would lead an inexperienced or person considering the possiblity of getting into the hots that these are tame and placid creatures and that the pictured practice is the norm. With the recent venomous bites in the news of the private sector this is just another ploy the governing officials that be could use in their crusade to outright ban the keeping of all exotics. I think that would in essence hurt us all in the venomous community from the breeders, dealers, and keepers alike. Please do not take this as hate mail or a personal attack but rather just a suggestion for future reference.
Thank you for your time and understanding.
-Todd
I also would like the contact info (e-mail) for Kingsnake so that I could personally thank them for righting the wrong after it was brought to their attention. I encourage others to follow suit. If we as a community don't police and question others actions in this field the goverment will be more than willing to step up to the plate. It takes more than saying something is wrong to set something right. We all are capable of errs in judgement but that is when our fellow colleages should intervene. Keep fighting the good fight.
Just my .02,
Todd
