Wallace's Line is an imaginary line postulated by A. R. Wallace as the dividing line between Asian and Australian fauna in the Malay Archipelago. It passes between Bali and Lombok islands and between Borneo and Sulawesi, then continues S of the Philippines and N of the Hawaiian Islands.
Hope this helps,
Karl

It is important to point out that Wallace's line does not really apply to herps - the faunas of the islands immediately to the east of Wallace's line (Lombok east to Flores and Alor, Sulawesi, the Philippines) is of largely Asian origin (e.g., cobras, Trimeresurus etc.), although Australasian elements gradually become more important as one goes east. However, it is only in the Moluccas that Australasian herps predominate (e.g. Acanthophis).
Cheers,
Wolfgang
