You have to scent your own. Many people put dead rats in a bag with a dead snake and leave it for several hours. I know of a couple of people that have actually sewed the "tails" of snakes onto dead rats. And it worked. The Kings actually switched over to pre-killed rats.

Every King I have worked with needed to be force fed as a juvenile but as it grew to a size large enough to feed on a baby chick they usually switch without much trouble. As far as scenting rodents to an adult King, the tried and true method I use is this, One large frozen corn snake, every feeding just thaw the corn snakes head and neck in some hot water and use the saliva? in the corn snakes mouth on the dead rats face, works for me every time. All my kings eat dead rats.
