Mangrove venom has caused a human fatality.
It depends on the reaction you will have to the venom.
Some people have little reaction to the same amount of venom that would put others in the hospital.
I have heard that mangrove bites bleed and swell a bit and you may have dizziness and a bad headache from the nurotoxins.

What is your source on the B.dendrophilia fatality? Last I checked from scientist who are working on the venom of this and other Boiga species was that there has never been a serious envenomation. I hope your not going by the same bull the API is trying to push on SC and a few other states. They state there was a serious envenomation by one in Africa which is BS IMHO.
I would say one could make your life suck for a day or more but nothing more serious then alittle swelling and posibly some systematic effects such as head ache and dizzeness, as you mentioned.
Just my 2 cents on the matter.
Look foward to hearing your source.
Later,
Jeremy

Just my two cents. When I was a young teenager around 13 or 14 I aquired a mangrove from a pet dealer. That particular snake was quite dosil but it would throw a temper from time to time. I recieved a bite from it . Bioga species prey opon many bird species, they have a lock jaw bite. After prying the snakes mouth from between my thumb and index finger I did have a mild stinging senstion that began to feel as if I had been stung by a bee with a little swelling. Thats about all it did.

Sherman Minton did a paper called "Are there any Non-venomous snakes" in '97 or '98 I believe, and he lists the Sub-cutaneous LD50 just slightly lower than a Bothrops asper, so it is quite toxic, however the likelihood of an injury of any magnitude is almost non existent. I work with them on a daily basis and a few nips are not uncommon, the worst reaction I have ever heard of personally was a large headache. But who knows? and who wants to take the chance of finding the "new Boomslang"?
