I have seen the usage of the phrase "Well drained soil" and "loss soil" used in many of my field guides. What do these mean?   RE: Terms Reply by PIGMAN on March 11, 2002 Mail this to a friend! Well drained soil means soil that is generally sandy or porous where water does not linger or pool up, water is quickly obsorbed into the earth. Sandy granular soils drain well, while clays and loams generally hold water and make swampy areas.
