Concerning the two headed western diamondback rattlesnake, the link listed below in News no longer works, but here is a new one that is working, at least for now.

What the real shame is, that the professor killed the snake after only attempting to feed it for one month.
I wonder how often he tried to feed it, and if he asked anyone for help in getting it to feed. Perhaps due to its deformity, it was destined to die anyway, but I bet one of the fine Texas Zoos could have kept it alive and got it to feed.
Most college biologists are not reptile keepers, they mostly know plucking live animals from the wild, and sticking them in pickle jars full of formaldahyde.
I wonder how many of the other ``interesting specimins``that he and his students ``collected`` that day were also killed, in the name of ``science?``
This is something that has been going on for years and years by professors who have the ``museum`` mentality.
I realise that voucher specimins are needed for actual rare and new species, but collecting for the sake of killing animals to ``educate students`` is just not an acceptable behavior for a teacher.
I do not know this Professor McAllister, but am guessing that his ``teaching`` uses this behavior. Perhaps some of out Texas members actually know him, and know if he is a pickle happy professor or not.
Anyway, wether he is or is not, the ``pickling professors`` kill hundreds of reptiles each year for the sake of teaching.
It would suffice to take students collecting, and release most of the animals caught. They could pickle a couple just to teach the students the metheod, but a biology class should not kill hundreds of reptiles just to teach students how to make pickles.
Best Regards JohnZ
