In northeast louisiana, where are good spots to field herp? Any near by bastrop, LA?
p.s.
what are some really good signs of a snake being around the area where you might be searching or signs that a place would be good to hunt for snakes?

Well I do not know any spots in Northern LA. But I can give you a few pointers on how to find stuff. First you need to find an area that your target species is in. Like if you want to catch cottonmouths you go swamps. You can find snakes in most habitats. Also you should see if their is a good supply of food in that area for the snake to eat i.e. rats, chipmunks, lizards, frogs, mice, or anything else the snake you want to find eats. Then if you can you should look around for places for snakes to hide like stumps, in rotten logs, in trees, in brush piles, under pieces of tin and other articial cover. You can also drive in the summer on back roads parelling swamps and other sorts and you can find snakes that way to since some will cross to go to another area or to warm up some.
