This is the exact API bill submitted a couple of years back that we defeated. Then it was presented by legislator Adam Taylor of Laurens County. We convinced him and SCDNR that the Animal Protection Institute agenda was outright eco-terrorism and they agreed with Rep. Taylor withdrawing support from his own sponsored bill. Much work and effort went into convincing Mr. Taylor that the bill was flawed. The API has once again found someone to spearhead this nonsense. I was notified nearly 1 month ago about it from a government representative and have been working with key representatives to send it to the same ignomious defeat as before. The API is relentless and will reintroduce the bill annually or every other year until the cows come home. Ever vigilant ever ready! Send them your concerns in well written, logical, and in a non combative manner. While there is strength in numbers poorly constructed and illogical letters will only fuel their concerns. Like my good friend Roark said it is the same bill different sponsor. Slightly modified versions have recently passed in Kentucky and New York. The author is API from N. California. It has been modified by PETA. We are actively fighting the same bill here in NC. Next month you will see it come up on the NC legislative agenda... just like you are seeing with SC today. If you are a citizen of SC you need to get organized in a hurry. Rally around Roark. He knows what to do.
Her in NC we have built an organization called NCARK. We have made inroads with the legislature and serve on an advisory panel to the Senate. We have built a dynamic website that we are about to bring online. But most importantly we are bring together large numbers of people because the legislature listens to VOTERS!
I'll be talking to you soon Roark.
Good Luck SC,
Andrew

I actually am starting to find these laws rather amusing but still a bit of a nuiscance. Actually its lawyer food and good ways for state to get in a heafty lawsuite if they inact such a law and if you know your existing laws. Much of it does go against our constitution. The main thing is animal keepers have to be responsable for their charges, even when we are there will always be someone out there that will not agree with what we do but its also not just their world and no one has the right to change peoples culture or lifestyles to their own opinions of how they think people should live. "THATS WHY AMERICA WAS FOUNDED" to get away form the kings control and choose alife and religion that suits you best LAND of THE FREE right? Seems like were reverting back!
Also do you really think SC DNR has the experience, caging, space, training and budget to respond to the exotic animals in the state. NC game officers have already said they can't take on any more jobs so I am pretty sure SC can't afford too either. Write your senators and talk with your game commissioners, educate your neighbors about your animals and how ludicris and communistic these laws are and how the opposers use fear, over exagerations, and accumulative animal attacks from all over the world from 50 years back through news media to get such laws passed.
Good luck South Carolina!

I plan on being there. Hopefully we will be able to organize and plan for the fight-just one in a really nasty war, with our rights at stake. I wonder if these politicians have any clue that they are really helping groups who not only intend to end all animal/human interaction as we know it, but also provide financial support for terrorists?
