I have been looking unsuccessfully for a snakebite protocol for an elapid that there is no specific antivenin manufactured for (Aspidelaps). I am unsure if a polyvalent antivenin could be applied to this species particular venom, so I conclude that IF I did get envenomated by this sepecies they would have to treat me symptomatically. I really like www-surgery.uscd.edu/ent/Davidson/Snake protocol listing and wanted to know if anyone out there knew of a snakebite protocol that would tailor to my needs?

Check out Miami/Dade's venom one website. They do have a case of an aspidelaps bite.

I don't know if they actually talk about how they treated it, though.

Toxinology.com says, "Treatment Summary
As most bites cause only local effects, not including necrosis, symptomatic treatment is usually appropriate, but the rare occurrence of paralytic symptoms, including respiratory paralysis (at least in children), requires careful examination and review over a period of at least 24 hours. Should paralytic features develop, treat symptomatically, as there is no antivenom available."
In other words, as with any neurotoxic species, you might end up on a ventilator for a while - tied down with a machine breathing for you while you endure long periods of consciousness, listening to the methodical clicking and hissing of the ventilator. And however long that will be, it will seem a lot longer! As your body starts to recover, you'll regain some use of your muscles and it will take all of your powers of concentration to time your efforts with the machine. I've never seen a happy patient on a ventilator. So, if you have Aspidelaps, just keep that in mind.

Chris in cases like that can they just give you something to make you sleep while you recover? Something like that could set someone up for a life time of therapy (mental & emotional).

Yeah, they'll usually keep you doped up on benzo's (valium type drugs) and/or narcotics. They aren't that cruel.
