FINALY !
I got my puff adders.
They are the most gorgeous snakes I have ever seen(I know everyone says that about their snakes). They are almost equal in size. One is about 2ft long(60cm) and the other one is almost as big(about 50-55cm). The big one is as fat as my four-arm. Simply awesome for snakes that are 1 year old.
I am housing them together at the moment but will split them soon. I plan on breeding them as soon as they can :D
Take care guys!
Best regards, Alex S.

Congrats Alex!! Puffs are way cool vipers and underestimated in just how difficult they can be to handle. Wait till they get to be about the 1.3M size and you'll know exactly what I mean...LOL
Best,
Al

I have wanted to keep puff adders since 5 years ago. I have looked at pictures, read about them, seen them in other people`s colection but only now have I managed to get a pair of my own. I think one of them is Bitis arietans somalica. The former owner wasn`t 100% sure about that either.
Anyway, can anybone give me some breeding tips or give me a good care sheet ?
Thank you,
Alex S.

Alex:
These are about as "bullet proof" species you can get. You have to really try hard to kill them! Mid 30's for temperature with a cooler spot, water dish or direct spraying (they like this) once a week. They eat anything, anytime but don't overfeed. At this age twice a month big meal and maybe a small "snack" if you have something left over that someone else did not eat. They don't defecate very often, ~5 weeks or so is typical. Make sure they have a place to hide and feel secure. Breeding, not very difficult...One male + one female= lots of babies! You should have no problems with these bad boy's ;-)
Good Luck,
Al
