Those of you who attend the Southeast shows frequently or are from the Western North Carolina area may remember or know an individual named "Jungle Joe"(aka:Joe Merzlak) or his business "Animalogic"(aka:Carolina Specialty Pets). Well, he has made the top story on the local news in the mountains. I have posted the link below for all to read. Just some more bad press for the reptile community. It really saddens me to read about this kind of crap...

Bad Press ??? Sure it`s bad press.
They found 13 dead animals at this clowns place ! What do you expect them to say ???
Don`t blame the press, blame the keeper in a situation like this.
Someone like that should not be keeping animals.

once more, they were DECOMPOSING!! he didn't even care to remove the bodies! he'd better have a good reason, although i don't think that there is one for this kind of animal cruelty! i hope he gets himself locked up!

Hey John, I wasn't saying it was "bad press", as in I blame the press. I was saying overall - it is bad news for all keepers of exotic animals. I'm glad Joe was caught, and I hope he pays for it all. I have been in Joes many different locations here in the mountains and have always been disgusted by the setups.

They said on the local new here that he also had venomous snakes which are illegal in Hendersonville. They were unsure what to do with them.
If they did die of anything other than neglect why did they not dispose of them properly?

With NCARK working hard for good Legislation in North Carolina, the actions of this Jungle Joe could have not come at a worse time.
He has just fanned the animal rights / peta`s bonefires.
