It's only nearly a week away! Make sure you stop by our "venomous reptile exhibit" if you come. We are usually along the far right wall when you walk in through the main doors. This is always a great event with lots of great folks and animals (okay, the ball python craze is still out of control but there should be more variety this year). The auction is definitely "adult only humor" but worth the ticket price and provides some nice stomach wrenching laughter. I'm still finalizing what we'll have on display but it will be a nice mix of rattlers (my favorite), various vipers (gaboon, rhino, saw scale, Cerastes), cobras/elapids, and a few other surprises. We'll be selling some captive bred herps as well and all proceeds will be donated to the "Wildlife Discovery Center Foundation" AND the "Max Schewitz Foundation" named after a staff who worked for me that died of sudden cardiac arrest last year while working with me. This foundation will be supporting many herp conservation projects. You can see more info at www.maxandthewildthings.com He was like a mini Steve Irwin...it's been a tough loss for me because he grew up in my program, worked for me, and I had many high hopes for him at my facility. Friday will mark the one year anniversary of his passing.
Anyway, if you are going to coming to Tinley Park, stop by and say hi.
