It really depends on the individual. If you have experience with any other species, they really are not that bad. I have kept 4 black paks. The first two I kept made really big shows. They would hood, hiss, and strike...but from a rather stationary position. They also were relatively easy to tail and hook.
My second pair were babies. I still have them now, and they are very enjoyable to work with. My male never hoods. The female does, but she's also just a show-off.
None the less, they are extremely dangerous- but if you have worked with cobras before, they are some of the less aggressive species to work with.
This is from my experience only. I can't speak for anyone else or for any other specimens.
Hope I could help.

I just bought a black pac last Friday from a good friend of mine. This snake loves to hiss, hood, and strike. Just like mentioned above, she is in a stationary position. I put a trap box in her cage, so she hides the majority of the time. I believe that if you keep any elapid, a trap box is a must.. Never hurts to have that extra protection. I guess her temperment is just like your basic cobra. Quick, aggressive, not for a beginner. (not saying you are) As far as hooking goes, mine did okay using 2 hooks and moving very slow. Hope this helps. Bryan

I have a male black pak. He hides mostly but when hes out and i make a move he doesnt like then hell hood up and stay there for quite a while. He hasnt struck to many times and hasnt tried to advance. But it all depends, you could get that one black pak that wants to murder everything that moves or it could be calm you want to hold it. (even if it is dont)

A friend of mine lost part of a finger to a black pak bite years ago. Just suggesting that you don't take yours (or any cobra, for that matter), lightly. Enjoy your snake.
