Gosh Marty, you must have a lot more time than I do to debate stuff like this, LOL ! You asked the group here for our opinion, and I stated mine. Now you seem to want to go on and on defending your position. I really do not have the time for that at the moment. You asked, and I saw fault in your questions and in Steves ad. And I stated how I saw the situation.
I have over the years seen many folks here post animals they were going to bring to Hamburg or other shows for sale or trade, or to tell vendors there that they were interested in purchasing certain animals.
Many vendors have animals that are slow to sell, so they do not bring them to shows unless they know there might be a buyer. A good example is Coral Snakes, which are usually not offered for sale at shows because they are difficult to keep. However, I have told folks here I would be at a certain show, and would be looking for female Coral Snakes, and guess what, a few of those animals showed up for sale.
I have also told vendors I would be looking for new born copperheads for Coral Snake food, or for colored mice for breeding projects, and guess what, vendors brought them to the shows.
If we are going to get into a deep discussion point by point, it will have to be herp related, and not some silly ramblings about how you want all of the Classified Ad folks to meet your standards of listing.
Best Regards JohnZ

To John: Wow, correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought this was herp-related, perhaps not directly about an animal, however, but certainly pertinent to this industry, without which there would probably be no VR.org.
I'm glad to see that, in your infinite wisdom, you thought my verbiage only amounted to "silly ramblings about how you want all of the Classified Ad folks to meet your standards of listing." Help me out John…where in my posts do you see anything about me wanting the Classified Ad folks to meet any standards, let alone my standards ?? And please point out for me where I have ever stated anything about standards of listing. For that matter, where in my posts do you see a reference at all about almighty99's ad being non-standard ?? I humbly and respectfully requested further information. PERIOD. John, with all due respect, let's try to refrain from straying from the facts.
And I actually thought that I may be helping others on this site by bringing attention to the situation. Silly me.
Oh, and for the record, I do have a lot of time, I have been fortunate enough to be extremely successful with my business dealings. Most of my time is spent doing herp-related things and when I'm not doing that, I can be found in meetings with our state representatives, mostly discussing herp-related legislation. You know, silly things. I must admit, though, that I do see a multitude of your posts, far surpassing mine in sheer numbers, so I must assume that you have more time on your hands than I do. I'm jealous. Perhaps I'm wrong, it would not be anywhere near the first time, and I’m sure you know as well as I do the consequences of assuming.
By the way, you are right, I did ask for opinions and I am thankful for yours. I was not defending mine, I just thought that you had missed a few relevant points.
To EPARR1: Perhaps he does have the animals, and, based upon what you have said, I believe he does, however, personally, I would not support anyone who chooses to jeopardize our interests by keeping hots where they are not legal.
To BigBend66: You have the best idea yet, I will let it go.
However, in the future, I will continue to speak out in support of this passion/hobby/industry when I perceive that something is not quite right. For all of us. I also hope that everyone else will do the same so that we can be doing this in 20 years from now and so that our children can do the same. Speak out and don't be afraid of being accused of being silly.
Thanks to all for your input…
Marty

My personal feeling are this. You should have contacted the guy more than once before slandering his ad or calling it a scam.
You gave your refferences and told us how sucessful you business is. Good for you does not give you the right to jump the gun and bad mouth this guy without checking into it futher.
Also You slander him futher to say he is housing the snakes illegally. You don't know that for a fact. If he is his time will come. That is also no concern of yours.
This whole post has really pissed me off and I don't even know the guy who posted the ad. I do know the guy that posted this one is a Jerk and that's putting it mildly.
You should really look into thing futher before trashing someone on a public forum. Best of luck to you.

I knew when I answered Marty`s post that he was likely to not really want folks opinions, but really wanted to ramble on and on and on and on. I was sure right. He stated:
"Enough said, please contribute your thoughts as I was completely and utterly dumbfounded by the emailed response that I received.
Thanks for listening...looking forward to your responses...
Marty"
What part of "Enough Said" do you not understand Marty ?
After all, that is your own words, but you want to continue saying and saying and saying.............
All your manure about how rich you are, and how you have dealt with this person, or another person, over the years, and how you do this or that involving legislation, or whatever, and what a great business man you are would tend to make me think you are feeling under-appreciated. You sound like you are doing a lot and nobody cares. Well, join the club !
Lots of folks do a great deal of work that goes unrecognised...............
That really is not a good reason for you to attack someone who posted a simple ad in the Classifieds. And when you say things like "completely and utterly dumbfounded," it makes you sound still very, very, very British.............Almost like a butler or something.
Why dont you drink a bit of Earl Grey and eat a few Crumpets and talk it over with your shrink and relax a bit ?
And after that, why don`t you call up the reporters of your home town news and tell them what a swell guy you are, and what all you have done for Herpetology, and business, and stopping scammers on internet web, and your community, and perhaps they will publish a photo of you in the society pages, and tell the world just how special you are, and your ego will get a boost, and you can then be happy ?
Best Regards JohnZ

Once again we can't seem to get through the topic without personal attacks.
It is the 8th.
I am hoping "steve" was able to sell all of his animals to people at Hamburg.
Anything further in this thread will be deleted.
