I'll second that! The fella making the original post, though it seems quite rational to him in terms of using venomoids for training, has really missed the mark with his justifications. He's putting far too much trust in the person doing the procedure and the snake's inability to produce venom. We've taken in a number of venomoids from confiscations, some real hatchet jobs. We have a couple of elapids whose heads are completely sunken in and guess what, they can still produce venom! These are the same snakes that the idiots who previously kept them showboated with them draped around their necks! The Darwin Award alluded them this time but I have a feeling that their time will come.
I think Terry and the rest made excellent comments and we should just save this strand for when the next time this comes up (which will probably be very soon).
Cheers,
Rob

I agree with Karl, both on the commas and periods comment and the venomoid comment. Keeping venomoids won't teach you anything that a non venomous snake would. I do know allot of people who keep them for shows and demonstrations,(you know who you are)they feel that it keeps the audiance safer from an accident, should one happen.I haven't decided on my feelings about that one yet.I guess thats the one place I MIGHT make an exception on my stance against venomoids. Not sure. The audience wouldn't know the difference if its done right and not free-handled. Take care, Marty

ok in my defense I wasn’t talking about rusting it that it would never produce venom again and I would never handle it as if it were anything besides a true hot and like the comment about the safety all it would be doing is cutting back some of the venom risks it is similar to getting in a car and not buckling up or buckling up it is a personal opinion and a safety choice also in my commas and periods defense I will tell all of you how it is I type what I think as I think it and don’t have time to make all the proper punctuation this is a post not a college essay which by the way I am trying to get into a college that offers herpetology and toxicology both are extremely interesting to me I just personally don’t see how any non venomous snake is comparable to a cobra there are some rear fanged that are kind of similar but still pack a very little punch with their venom and I would never buy a venomoid from anyone besides http://www.venomoidinc.com/ I trust them and they use a licensed and practicing Doctor of Veterinary Medicine to perform the surgery and the snakes have been fitted with medical-grade implants and have no visible scars so they appear no different and behave no different I know I am not going to change anyone’s mind but just a though and reason behind my logic

Wade, you stated: "also in my commas and periods defense I will tell all of you how it is I type what I think as I think it and don’t have time to make all the proper punctuation this is a post not a college essay which by the way I am trying to get into a college that offers herpetology and toxicology both are extremely interesting to me"
Do you really think that you will be able to get into college if you are not able to write a sentence with proper use of commas and periods ?

I never said I couldn’t write a sentence with proper punctuation I just stated that this isn’t a college essay I am not being graded I am asking a question or stating my opinion there is no reason for all the proper punctuation or anything else like also I always have a lot going on and don’t have any time to waste and proper punctuation takes longer sorry but I am who I am and I don’t feel the need for proper punctuation also if spelling and grammar check don’t spot it I don’t worry about it

Okay, Wade.
Fair enough.
I said that your lack of punctuation made your request difficult to understand.
You answer that this isn’t college and you aren’t being graded.
You also say that it isn’t a matter of whether or not you can write properly but rather that you choose not to waste your time making sure that your requests are properly understood.
Whether you recognize it or not, the way you speak and write determines the caliber of responses that you get. If you speak and write like an illiterate, then people will naturally treat you like one whether you are or not. That is human nature.
I have read and re-read your initial post. I think you are saying that you believe that venomoids should be used to train on how to keep and take care of venomous snakes and then be passed on to the next person trying to learn the same things. Personally, I disagree with this viewpoint as I stated above. If that is not what you were trying to say ... guess I wasted my time.
Good luck with your decisions about venomoids since you seem to have already made up your mind.
The next time I respond to you will be when you decide to waste enough time to make sure that I know what you are asking.
The very people that you say that want to hear from - those with more experience and knowledge - are the ones who want you to be legible.
You also said that all opinions, thoughts and critical remarks were welcome. Apparently not.
Good luck.

If you can't write an intelligent sentence on this forum, how are you going to even consider going to college? Writing should be fairly effortless. Take pride in how you write - take time to proof your work. No one is looking for perfection here, we all make mistakes but it's nearly impossible to read what you have written. As someone who hires people to work in the field of herpetology, I would never consider bringing someone on board with poor grammar and communication skills. It sounds like according to what you have said that you are able to write so lets see it. It shouldn't take that much longer to write a coherent sentence.

Point 1 - I have an adult Black Mamba that came in through a confiscation in MO. which originated from Venomoid Inc. He produces large quantities of venom from an extraction. So someone had a bad day at the surgery office at least once. Thats more than enough to convince me.
Point 2 - You are in fact being graded here... by your peers. You are asking for input from others. We are attempting to grade you on a curve and politely answer your questions. We are just asking you to give us the same courtesy and take an extra minute to put a couple commas and periods. No attack, just asking for some courtesy is all. Frankly, your posts hurt my eyes and make me dizzy.
Cheers!
Terry
