As often as I read things about Venomoids, I never see any hard facts about the company who produces them. Many posts refer to a "Ray" or a "Jeremy" but how come there is such a lack of information? Doesn't anyone know who they are? The website simply states that they are "qualified" veterinarians...

Here is a verity of sites that contain all the truths about venomoids and the sugary and processes that make this humane safe and reliable.
http://venomoidinc.com/home/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=13&Itemid=29
http://venomlist.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5814
http://www.smuggled.com/VenFAQ1.htm
http://oregonreptileman.com/id27.html
I will also note that I have had several people email that are pro venomoid for training purposes. That stated they would not post there opinion here due to the blasting they would get. Doesn’t anyone think it is a bit pathetic that a few people dominate this site and destroy its integrity? I feel as if the general answer I got in return to my question was go be an English major type perfectly and just grab up a hot with all disregard for yours and those lives around you. I feel this is kind of bad advice and a little disturbing.

Well, Wade those are some mighty confrontational words.
"Doesn’t anyone think it is a bit pathetic that a few people dominate this site and destroy its integrity?"
Maybe after you have been here a few years, you can talk to me about the integrity of the site. This is not a majority rules run website. Sorry about that!
But we'll talk about "the integrity of this site" more at the end of this post...
"I feel as if the general answer I got in return to my question was go be an English major type perfectly and just grab up a hot with all disregard for yours and those lives around you."
Obviously we have a problem with reading comprehension here. Let me recap some important highlights for you...
"So, why not use a healthy, non-venomous species, and treat it as though it were venomous to become acquainted with the tools associated with the venomous hobby? As opposed to a “mutilated "Venomoid" snake for the same purpose???!!!"
was some of the advice given by John Mendrola
"get Mentoring from a experienced venomous reptile keeper."
was some of the advice given by John Z
and "I believe that if you want a cobra, you study cobras and then get one. Study should include all the book learning that you can get as well as time working with a mentor who has the particular species that you want. I never said it was easy."
was some of the advice given by me.
Clearly, the advice you wanted was "Yeah man, sounds like a good idea. Go on and do it your way." I am glad that you got that advice in emails. If you re-read the posts in this thread, you will also see where a number of people tell you exactly why venomoids can still be dangerous. If you will click on "About the SHHS" on the navigation bar to your left, you will see that this site is about venomous snakes NOT venomoid snakes. You will also find under mission statement #3 - To encourage responsible animal husbandry by venomous reptile keepers.
In my opinion, telling people that using venomoid snakes as a throw-away ("just pass on the learning tools to the next person interested") method to learn how to deal with venomous snakes is a violation of that specific tenet.
And THAT would be a violation of the integrity of this site.
You asked for opinions.
You got opinions.
They didn't agree with yours.
So, in answer you post links to all the sites that promote venomoiding and your point of view.
And THAT changes this thread from a request for opinions to just another person trying to ram venomoiding down the throats of people who prefer to keep venomous animals as they are.
Thanks for your participation.
Good luck with your educational venomoids.
And for what it's worth ... surgery is probably a word you want to be able to spell if you are defending the ability of someone to perform it safely.
But that is just my opinion.

Karl

Look he used Ray Hosers link...I wouldn't even click on it but the 'smuggled' link is the one I'm referring too.
Did you watch the video in the thread below called "watch this video"? Thats Ray Hoser using venomoids for 'education'
Is that the person you want to believe? You trust Venomoid Inc to not make an error? Hey, more power to you...you asked for advice, you got it. What you do with it is your own choice. I highly doubt the rantings of a lunatic (in my opinion) such as Ray will convince anyone here. I know that the sales pitch of a commercial venomoid dealer doesn't do much to convince me to trust anyone that much...
Lol...sorry we didn't agree with you.
Cheers!

I'll second that! THANK YOU KARL!
Wade, do you not find it funny that everybody here offered the same basic advice? Wade, go back as far as you like into older posts. You will not find too many folks who are seriously dedicated to the hobby that are in favor of venomous snakes. As Karl sated PERFECTLY, we keep VENOMOUS reptiles. People use this forum from other countries, all around the world, and we have a very diverse group of opinions here. So, why is it you assume that this forum is run by a few "biased" people? In a sense, you are correct, but that is the reason why RESPONSIBLE keepers come here and use this site. The ones who are not responsible keepers or cause trouble do not stay here very long.
Bottom line, if you do not like how we, as responsible keepers feel, then don't listen to us. You seem to have already made up your mind, so why did you post the question ASKING the advice of more experienced keepers, if you were simply going to ignore the advice offered to you?
I must say, out of ALL the herp sites on the net today, this site is one of a few that actually "function". Many of the most experienced keepers in this country, as well as many other countries, use THIS site. A few of these people have even offered advice to you in this thread.
Although I am not in charge here, I will still offer my advice in this regards to this: If you do not like how this site is run, then why not find another one? One filled with the skeptical information and lack of educated opinions you appear to be seeking... Trust me, there are many of these sites out there. This forum is filled with some very educated and experienced keepers, and the advice given here is perhaps the best you will find on the net, and that is why I, and so many others, use this site as opposed to all the crap that can be found on most other sites.
I am not trying to come off as rude, but we here took the time to answer the question that YOU ASKED, seeking advice. Well, apparently, the advice that was offered to you wasn't exactly what you wanted to hear, so why did you ask your question in the first place? I'm sure the few of us here would have rather not wasted our time posting our responses had we known you already had your misinformed opinions, and were not going to listen to any advice offered to you in the first place. Bottom line is, if you don't like it here, then don't come here. Surely one of the sites you posted that promote venomoid *SURGERY have forums? Why not use those?
The folks here are dedicated, and here to educate interested and responsible people with a desire to learn. Well, it proves to be very hard to offer advice and teach people who do not wish to learn in the first place.
Again, I do not wish to sound rude, but that is just the way it is. The time folks here spent reading and answering your question could have been much better spent doing just about anything else, or offering advice to those truly wishing to learn more.
Take Care,
~John Mendrola.

There are hundreds of years of combined experience in this thread. There is some one who has perhaps the largest collection in the USA,if not the world. These people are professional as well as private collectors. My personal heros one and all.If you can not get the answers you want here, then that says something about you not them.I have been raked over the coals for my lack of effort in composition more than once. For that reason I keep a dictionary close at hand.I am here to learn and these are the people I would like to learn from.As has previously been stated this is a venomous site, not venomoid site. Are hobby is under pressure from many directions .In my opinion all advice has been given with the hobby,as well as yours and the animals wellbeing in mind.Good luck with your efforts in this hobby .ARCHIE.

heres my 2 cents.
When your a kid an your learning gun saftey the first thing your taught is your saftey. You go from there to learning about the parts of the gun, an evently even to learning how to handel it loaded.
Why bother using a void which could be a potenial loaded gun to learn with? All it takes is that one lil accident to put you in a whole world of hurt.
If an exprenced keeper kept a void in order to teach someone keeping skills - BUT they did not tell the person that they where teaching that it was a void then it could come in handy for someone whos doing alil mentoring work with someone thats previously worked with nonvenomous.
I do not agree with voids, but they are always going to be created so long as there is a demand. An the snakes will always find their way around in the pet trade. They could be a valuble learning tool in the right hands. But the question is whos is the right hands.
