Yes you do have to need permits for any rear fanged snakes except western hognose. I think the python is also called macklot python but I not positive.

Not that I am recommending this person or anything like that but he does appear to have a pair of Macklott's for sale. you might page through our ads to see if there are any others but I seem to recall seeing quite a few of these for sale lately.

From personal experience, I believe that you will get more responses looking for Macklott's than for Freckleds. Just a suggestion.

I disagree, The Phantom.
I think that this is an excellent place to ask such questions.
www.toxinology.com does not list Boiga blandingii as having any medical significance. I don't have my personal library here with me but the only Boiga that I recall being banned in Georgia is actually federally banned in the U.S. (Boiga irregularis).
The real answer to this question is that he should contact GA DNR and ask them if it is legal to keep the Blandings Tree Snake based on current laws.
If your answer is based on the difficulty of keeping the species, then I submit that you didn't provide enough information to make that clear. Blanket "If you have to ask, the answer is no" statements are condescending and nonproductive, in my opinion, and don't teach anyone anything. They also don't stop people from getting the snake that they are asking about. They just stop people from asking questions.

Ok, thanks Karl. I just wanted to know if they are legal because I know where I can get one fairly cheap. And instead of saving money and going up there not knowing if he'll sell it to me I decided to ask first so I can have an idea of If I can purchase it or not.

Jeremy,
Please keep in mind that in today's society whether or not the vendor will sell it to you does not necessarily equate to whether or not you are allowed to have it.
All too often, senior SHHS members have escorted people of all ages/sexes/etc from shows with their new venomous purchase who have no idea of how to care for their animal. Vendors tend to just care about how much money they can get. While certainly not true of all vendors, anyone who tells you that this situation is not rampant has had their head in the sand for much too long.
Be careful when purchasing. Ask around about the vendor. The better vendors are concerned about their reputation and the quality of the animals that they offer. Whether or not an animal is legal where you live will always remain your own responsibility. DNR remains the best place to check.
Good Luck,
Karl
