This was news today:
SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) - Officials seized seven poisonous snakes from a home in Silver Spring last night. The snakes included two Gaboon Vipers, two Florida Cottonmouths, one Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, one Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake and one Copperhead. The Gaboon Viper's poison can kill
a human within 15 minutes. Specialists took the snakes to the Catoctin Mountain Zoo. Maryland Natural Resources police officials seized all written records pertaining to the snakes. The snakes' owner, Matthew W- Johnston, was charged with five counts of importing poisonous snakes into the state and other charges.
A preliminary hearing has been set for April fourth in
Montgomery County.

Good question Byran...Somebody told the authorities after learning what he was keeping. That's a guess of course. Give it a few days it will be out in the news.
Maybe MD has a Hot Herp Swat team?

Great time for this to happen when the state is working on a mose comprehensive exotic ban. I'm sure they will up the fines and tighten the noose.

Matt had a captive reptile permit for maryland and the terms of the permit are to disclose all reptiles you keep witch he did and got the permit. A month later after being inspected and approved with the venomous snakes in his room the DNR said they made a mistake and seized the reptiles!!! Why give a captive permit with venomous then to raid your house a month later and give bad press? Does anybody know of an adult human being killed by a gaboon in 15 min or less?

That is the messed up part, DNR has a list of all the hots he had before the permit was issued and still gave matt the permit. The only reason I am telling this is matt's lawer told him to keep quiet till this is over so you all will hear from him in time.
