I was wondering if anybody has heard about that 15 year old getting bit by a cottonmouth. I feel sorry for the fact that he got bit and nearly died. But his says he loves snakes. I feel like if he loves snakes then he should know how to at least be able to tell a pit viper from a colubrid. Dont get me wrong but he is a victim of his own ignorance and carelessness. His mother even told told him to get it out her house. the only things i dont want to happen is for a human to die from snakebite(but then again it happens anyway) and for the snake to be made into a villain.
the snake goes by its natural instincts and is not out to hurt people.
My sympathies to Adonis Ornelas.
Jimmy

Jimmy: Young Adonis is lucky to have lived so near Venom 1. Sounds like a bad bite. There are some good photos at http://www.local10.com/news/4417710/detail.html
His mom did not know it was venomous, but he knew exactly what it was. Hopefully, he will be more carefull in the future.
Best Regards JohnZ

Well Jimmy, since you brought it up, I will finish it for you. This young man is only 14 years old. And yes, he did know what kind of snake it was. His mother on the other hand did not. He caught this snake out in the wild. It is not like he bought it at a pet store or expo. I do believe you were 14 once right?? You know how boys are. He is very lucky to be alive. So before you come in here to our forum and complain like a little girl about new herp laws, because of a 14 year old boy that had an isolated accident. Like I said, he caught this snake in the wild, it was not sold to him. It would be different if the snake was purchased them bit him. I am sure that his mother is very thankful he is going to survive.

Anonymous,
1) 3 days ago, when Jimmy posted, it had not yet been made public that he knew what kind of snake it was.
2) None of the rest of your post gives me any reason to believe that you even read Jimmy's post. He said nothing about new laws and did not suggest that he bought the snake.
3) It seems strange that someone who posts anonymously would use a phrase like "before you come in here to our forum".
4) Take a powder...

I have to agree with Larry about Anonymous's comments!
Jimmy did not say anything about herp laws in his post, he just wished Adonis a good recovery from the snake bite.
What difference does it make if Adonis caught the snake in the wild or bought it somewhere? He knew it was hot, and took a risk keeping it, got tagged, survived, and learned a valuable lesson.
I hope Adonis finds this site, as I bet he would be very quick to tell others about his mistake, and what he learned.
Since he loves snakes, we know he is going to continue keeping them. And his experience with the bite just might have some influence on other young keepers of hot snakes. Maybee more so than advice from the old farts, LOL !
I bet he would not post from behind the Anonymous mask.
And just what do you mean Anonymous by "before you came in here to our forum". This is an open forum, and Jimmy has posted some great questions and is welcome here. The only persons who are entitled to call this "our forum" are the founders of the site.

Hey guy's. I see you are all talking about my bite. But I do see that, as always, the news stations did not put all the "facts" together properly. Yes, I did get the snake(whom I had already named Fang) from the wild. And the way it, as they say, "attaked" me, is very off. I had known the fact the snake was a female, and pregnant at that, so I had attempted to feed her. As I was lowering her into the cage, she mis-took my leg(I was wearing pants with a whole in them). Yes, she did latch on, and yes, you could say it was my fault for panicing and grabing her head in an attempt to remove her, pumping more venom into me. I did not "nearly die" or even go into shock. To be honest, my body reacted very... "well", if you will, to the venom. My upper leg had swollen to about 4-inches larger, but the "black area of decaying flesh"(as i've seen on other sites), is NOT fact. It was very mild. There was no pain(or it could have just been the morph they "feed" me) and the bite felt only like that of getting a shot at the doctors. Sadly, her 2 babies had died and yes, I still have snakes and many other reptiles. My life is going natural as if nothing had happened.
P.S.
I was 15 at the time. I am now 17 and if no-one belives I am who I say I am, heres my URL to my myspace.
