Check this out. Do you think that the U.S. will start clearing more land and making more business to boost our economy so that we can stay at the top? I wish the U.S. was more like Bhutan. They have a set amount of land that they have to preserve and theyre land actually exceeds the required area.

Hmmm...that's probably fairly easy to pull off with a King and a population too poor to buy land. I'm not sure I'll be moving there any time soon.
However I share your hope that we don't develop too much more of this country. If you want to make a real difference in the long term, do what I'm doing...don't have kids...

I just got a job with a big carpet company and they have some land set aside to preserve. It has a huge pond and a different variety of woodland habitat. Its full of copperheads, king and rat snakes. The cool thing about it is, if you dont work there you cant gain access. They have people that patrol it and you have to have your work id card to get access. Its a beautiful place and the animals are thriving. Its about a 5 minute drive from my house. I checked it out early this morning and saw a variety of freshwater turtles basking and alot of different species of bird. I only looked for a few minutes because I worked last night and I have been up since yesterday afternoon. I wish more places would do this.

I forgot to say that, the snakes are so plentiful they sometimes venture into the mill. I figured the people their would kill the snakes but after hearing the stories, the workers take the snakes and release them back outside unharmed. The people there seem to be snake friendly. They had a news paper today in the breakroom with an article on snakes and copperheads in particular. I think that it would be fun to be in the middle of a job and see a black rat snake come in to say hello.
