With nationwide antivenom shortage I have been donating almost all the hots I find cruising to a friend whom has been involved with them for much longer than myself.He has received an offer to milk snakes(copperheads and Rattlesnakes) for antivenom company.Is antone else doing anything same?Looking for someone else I can talk to especially in Mississippi area.

Well, I don't know of any other opportunities for you. But actually I am very interested in donating venom from the snakes I study also. And so I'm kind of in the same situation. Good luck

Well, Wyeth *was* producing ativenom in Pa. But they're out of the AV biz. Protherics produces their AV over in England and markets it in the US through Savage Labratories. I'm pretty sure that they have their own lab and milking facilities to guarentee the purity of their venom and to ensure that the venom is clean. That's pretty much all there is with North American AV.
That being said, if I were a lab buying venom and I had a need for Crotalus or Agkistrodon venom, and you could prove the purity to me, I might consider buyign venom from you rather than from Van Horne, Haast, Harrison or Latoxan. Sorry, but there's not much of a market in venom, particularly crude venom.
I suppose that if you were going to produce yor own av--and this is just my speculation--you might want to get an antivenom that would be more effective against C.v.helleri and some of the rattlers that CroFab is not particularly strong aainst. but again, that's just speculation on my part.
