I would say that it looks like a fire ant bite or some other kind of bug bite/sting. It is deffinately not a snake bite. If not a fire ant my next guess would be a bee/wasp sting.

Fire ant bites are easily recognized by the small blister that forms a day or so after the bite. The pain from the bite is nowhere near that of a bee, wasp, or snake.

Well if you look at the photos on the last page on snake bite it sure does look like a fire ant to me. Besides me may have a sensitivity to them which cause more pain with the bite than most people. Their is no chance of snake bites in this case.

My bad! I had not seen the pix..I was just going by what had been written. That certainly does look like 2 fire ant bites with a lot more swelling than usually accompanies a bite from that critter. That explains why the guy did not notice the bites when they happened. With a reaction like that to ant venom, he ought to be careful around bees & wasps. He maybe ought to carry an epi-pen.

Classic Fire Ant bite. They take a long time to heal up....nasty little buggers.
