Well, this has got to be the dumbest thing I have ever done. I purchased 2 baby WDB's from Glades at the Columbia show. I put in this plastic rock thing for a hide box. It really looked good in the cage and they would get under it and all was fine. Anyways, one of them found a small hole, crawled in it, and got stuck. I figured, well, he got in it, and he can get out. I was wrong. He was in the same place and position when I got up this am. He was stuck!! So, I had to get the rock out and started cutting it piece by piece with fish skinning pliers. After about 45 minutes, I got him out with no harm. I looked him over and he looks and acts fine. Not to mention, he was a little pissed off!! I would not have dreamed in a million years, he could have got in that hole. Anyways, just my experience today. Back to the wood hide boxes for now on. I learned the hard way just how remarkable these little guys can get in some really tight spaces. Bryan

Another thing to be cautious about is using stuff like duct tape to secure cages.
I have seen a couple of cases where small snakes were trapped by the tape when trying to excape from their cages.
It is not much fun trying to remove a venomous snake that is stuck to duct tape. JohnZ

This is one thing that kind of bothers me. You have 1 member post something and then other members reply with something different. This then takes the subject completely off the subject. This post here is a perfect example. EMTNURSE talks about hide boxes. Well the replies he gets are about duct tape. Then another member post about duct tape. See, what I am saying. Nurse never asked or said anything about duct tape. And this is how post are almost always led astray.

Actually, Ling Ling, the two subjects are related, as they both involve HUSBANDRY MISTAKES that people can make, even if the first post was titled ``hide boxes.``
Brian explained his warning very well, so it did not need any reply.
And I explained mine, and expanded the topic some.
Now others will jump in and also post different husbandry warnings based on their experiences.
The topic will evolve to become a discussion of husbandry mistakes people have made.
This will be a good learning experience for new herpers.
Try to see the post as a dynamic thing, a living thing, that grows, and evolves, and changes, as folks add to it. Try to see the Big Picture!
It would be terrably booring if the post ending with folks saying to Bryan ``Sorry to hear your snakes head got stuck, dude.`` JohnZ

Hey Jon, I must admit, I have been guilty using the tape thing myself. Made messes with the Aspen sticking to it and all that other stuff. Never had a snake get caught in it though. It is good to hear other peoples experiences with mistakes in this hobby. I think it is good to expand topics brought up in here. Bryan
