Hi there, I will PM you Chris’s contact details in the morning (have them in my office at work) I have known Chris for about 18 years and have helped him by providing specimens for several of his books.

Paul: Thank You So Much!
I would really like to send a letter to Chris again, to just say hello to him, and tell him how much I have enjoyed his books.
Best Regards JohnZ

He may be an expert but only in his eyes. There are a few retail shops owners who start getting a glazed look in their eyes and start looking for blunt trauma instruments when his name is mentioned. Something to with his own brand of super-duper caging that they paid for but didnt get, the last i heard his father was traveling around the UK paying off the shops and apologising. A friend was owed a few expensive vivariums or his money back and it was only when a severe beating was mentioned that the goods were forcoming after a wait of about 7 months.

Peter: Thanks for the information. I knew when I mentioned Chris`s name, I might be ``sturring the pot some,`` so to speak.
I can only base information I know about him on the times in the long ago past that we traded reptiles. Those were good and interesting times, but we are talking 1975 to 1978. And the falling out we had was based in my opinion on mistakes we both made on what animals to ship.
I still value the friendship we had in the past, and the letters we exchanged about herping trips, even though it is long gone.
And, I still wish to say hello to him, and tell him that I liked the books he produced. I believe that some of the early books had photos of animals that I collected here and sent to him. I have no idea how this will be recieved by Chris.
Things change, and people change, but that does not damper the desire to keep in touch with past, and to catch up with things missed.
Thanks again for the information.
Best Regards JohnZ

JohnZ, I think Peter is talking about Pete Blake who "may" have some financial problems with fellow keepers. Chris Mattison is still a respected Herper here in the UK, and the last time he was mentioned at our herp society he was into his photography.

Yes, there has been a mix up there PeteUK is not referring to Chris Mattison in his post. Chris remains involved with reptiles but has branched out and now takes small groups on wildlife photography trips to some fantastic designations.
He is still a highly respected member of the UK herp community.
As promised, I have sent you his contact details.
All the best, Paul

My apologies!
After I shifted the topic to Chris, I assumed that it was still going that way.
I completely forgot about the Pete Blake question!
I must be getting old in my old age, LOL !
Thanks for the correction, and the information you have all provided in getting in touch with Chris again.
Best Regards
JohnZ
