i've been to the pamlico/hyde area the past three weekends. i live in edenton, about an hour from those areas. i'm gonna do some local herping this weekend..
had lots of luck...!!

Hey Hoyta,
Did you see any reds when you went looking a little while ago? I would like to come up and look for Northern Pinesnakes. I would also like to see a red pigmy, I have never found any in the wild. Those are two I am longing to add to my list of snakes viewed in the field. Have you found many snakes out already?

yeah, i've had some good luck. my first snake this year was a 3 1/2 ft. female cane! thats the only hot i've seen so far. i've been looking for red pigs(trust me!!!), but i haven't seen any.... i've heard that later on in the season is better for them. i've seen a crap load of racers! i've been with jared watts(a member on here) and kris(soggybottomserpents), and they've caught their fair share! kris caught a yellow rat and a red belly water snake. jareds caught a few glass lizaeds, a gorgeous eastern chain king, a green rat,etc...
we've all caught alot of turtles!! i've seen alot of spotteds,too!!
definetely come down! hell, my wife and i have a guest bedroom you could stay in if you'd like!! as long as you don't mind all the tanks( wife thinks its a guest room... she doesn't understand that its gonna be a snake room before its all over with!!)

I am going out tommarrow looking for what I can find. Last time out to this particular place, I seen the largest black snake ever. It had to be close to 7ft.This time I am looking for the ever elusive hognose. I am looking for other places to try. Anyone near the Charlotte area ever looking for company, or someone to trade "hot spot info" with, get in touch.
