Hi to all,
I am heading over to Apalachicola Forest on saturday and wanted to ask if anyone knows of a good location or road to cruise when looking for scarlet kings and eastern hognoses. I have not found any in the past when I have herped there. Any info is appreciated. Thanks,
Paul

Well it's Sunday evening and we are back from Apalachicola National Forest. Saturday morning it poured rain until around 11:45 am then started clearing out and by 12:30 the sun was steady heating things up. After our arrival we hiked to a small waterfall where I collected my first "Franklin County" Southern Copperhead. A female about 26 inches. The snake was laying at the bottom of the falls next to a pool eating Southern Dusky Salamanders. Found great numbers of those there also. Broad head skinks and Five-lined skinks were all around on the trees in the forest. Drving around we found a erythristic Florida Garter snake. It's also a large gravid female. Cruising back along the coast we found a 24-30 inch EDB crossing a road. Numerous water snakes, Gulf Coast Box turtles (even a baby), Red belly sliders, and toads were observed crossing also. The next morning on Sunday began with a bang when at 11:30 am we found a four foot male Blotched king down by a marsh near the coast. Almost patternless, mainly speckles. I posted pics in the Field Herping forum.
