On behalf of many many tortoises, Bw Smith, many other volunteers, and myself, I would like to thank John Zegel for providing this year's General Coffee Gopher Tortoise Survey with an awesome low country boil. This was not just any low country boil, it was AWESOME GOODNESS in a pot! Thank You John for a great meal and great company!
Thank You also to Red Rock Biologics for providing all the gear and necessities we needed. It's really nice to do something and have all the supplies.
Thank You also to Robert Preston for providing some really good news coverage in the Douglas Daily News.
Thank You also to General Coffee State Park for providing campsites, nice bathrooms, showers, and courteous hospitality.
Thank You also to BW Smith for putting together the survey. Brian got the idea for the survey a couple of years ago and approached the park with the idea. Without him, the survey wouldn't even exist.
Thank You also to Dirk Stevens for doing a powerpoint presentation on Eastern Indigos for the group, and to Dr. Bob Herrington and John Zegel for working with the park to improve the data collection techniques.
Thanks also to the many volunteers who braved the heat to count burrows.
It is refreshing and inspiring to see so many people come together in the interest of conservation and education.
Again, Many Many Sincere Thanks,
Chad Minter

I would like to thank Chad and BW for doing such a great job of organizing the General Coffee Gopher Tortoise Survey. They planned the event, and got the folks together to make it happen.
They also provided the accessory items for the low country boil, like the plates, forks, great iced tea, garlic bread, etc. And thanks to Bryan Hudson and his dad for bringing the water mellon for desert!
It was a fun weekend with a lot of good herpers. I look forward to attending again next year.
Best Regards JohnZ
